Painted with self mixed pigments; titanium oxide for the white, cadmium yellow, cadmium red and ultramarine for the blue. The black knife is painted with iron oxide, Almost like a knife has slowly rusted into the painting leaving behind a memory.
I painted this piece in 2020 during the pandemic, whilst living in Tribeca, NY. This piece explores how objects exist in the mind and how we attribute meaning to them. The candle is casting a light upon the table set for one. It is a beam of love and hope towards the lone sitter.
