Our Mission

Our mission is to make things that benefit the environmental and cultural landscape of the areas that we produce our products.

We believe that rural Japan holds knowledge the world needs: patience, precision, a profound relationship with natural material. Our role is to help that knowledge reach people who will treasure it — and in doing so, sustain the communities and forests that make it possible.

From procurement to planning to delivery, every decision traces back to a single ambition: to make something genuinely worth keeping.

Marcus Consolini | Director, Operations

In his role managing operations, Marcus drives bringing our products to the global marketplace. With a background in Finance and Investment Banking, as a renovator of multiple historic Japanese properties and as the first foreign owner/manager of a Japanese Sake Brewery, Marcus titles himself a champion of ‘craft Japan’.

Felix Conran | Director, Creativity

In his role Felix is always looking to be inspired, and find ways for us to make things that improve the lives of the people that live with our products, sell our products and make our products. Felix is an advisor to The World Monuments Fund, helping them with the preservation of Japan’s tangible and intangible cultural assets.

Together they bring international business acumen, and design sensibility to a centuries-old craft region, and in doing so we ask more of both.
